For King and Country

Wednesdays in October and November 2019.

This program currently has limited availability. Please see for a similar program.

Step back in time to August 4, 1914: Britain has declared war on Germany. Created in partnership with the Meaford Military Base, this program will transform students from regular citizens to disciplined soldiers of the British Empire. Students will undertake basic drills, learn about the equipment in a soldier’s pack, plan for the Battle of Arras, and march forward to assault Hill 145 of Vimy Ridge. The program concludes with a period of reflection as students review real attestation papers and medical records and hear the stories of our local boys who fought in the First World War.

*When booking, ask about extending your program to include a visit through our related exhibit Surviving the Unthinkable: Citizen Soldiers of Grey.
