Settler Savvy

Maximum 40 students
May 15th to November

How come pioneers always had simple machines? Because they knew better than to settle without them!

Discover Moreston Heritage Village through simple machines! Learn all the ways that settlers worked smarter, not harder, to get their work done. Through hands-on exploration students will work with simple machines to complete chores as a group or on their own. This program will focus on 1850s Grey County but include some younger machines from the 1880s and 1920s. Tasks may include: plowing, sewing, wood splitting, blacksmithing and so much more! Some activities are weather dependent.
