This winter, Grey Roots is excited to host a series of presentations by local artists.
The series, organized by Sheatre, is titled "Artists Talk!" and runs Wednesdays at 1:00 PM.
Each presentation costs $20, and begins with a light lunch at 1:00, followed by the artist talk at 1:30.
For more information, and to register, please email engage@sheatre.com. We are excited to host this series on behalf of Sheatre, but Grey Roots is unable to accept registrations for the series.
Sheatre asks that all registrations be received by the Sunday preceding your chosen talk.
Ron Schweitzer has a long, adventurous history of community theatre, giant puppet making, and obscure musical instrument building. Locally, his creations have enlivened Lookup Theatre, Electric Eclectics Festival and the “Act for Climate” project with Sheatre.
Coco Love Alcorn is a singer-songwriter who combines diverse influences – jazz, R&B, pop, folk, and Gospel. Through her solo albums and cross-Canada tours she shares her joyful music and her listeners are enthralled. She leads the Wonderland Singers, a community choir in Owen Sound.
Tony K Miller creates visual narratives – in painting, linocut and sculpture – that reflect African Canadian Diasporas experiences in Canada. Tony is a descendant of Freedom Seekers who came to Owen Sound on the Underground Railroad. He says, “Beauty is the ultimate form of protest.”
Anna Gaby-Trotz is a printmaker and photographer whose work critically explores social issues, identity, and the natural environment. Her practice centers on the transformative power of art to create inclusive spaces for marginalized communities.
Lenore Keeshig (Anungo-kwe – Star Woman) is Wolf Clan, a traditional Anishinaabe storyteller from the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation on the Saugeen Bruce Peninsula. As a storyteller, Lenore connects traditional Anishinaabek stories to current geologic research.
Your membership will grant you access not only to Grey Roots, but also to our partner museums!
Volunteers participate in learning workshops and seminars, meet new people and make new friends, and receive many benefits.
We rent our multi-media theatre and Delton Becker Room to the community. The 75 seat theatre is an excellent venue to host films, lectures and other events.
