Rising to the Occasion: A History of Bread Making

With the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, many Canadians began making and eating their own freshly baked loaves. This renewed interest in baking bread gives us the perfect opportunity to explore the history of bread making. Through this exhibit explore bread’s history; from gathering all the necessary ingredients, to the baking process, and simple ways in which bread has been prepared. By appreciating the history of bread making you may find yourself joining in on the bread making craze yourself!

This in person exhibit is on display at the museum until December 31 2021, it was created by Jacob Fralic, Collections Assistant, and funded by the Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations summer employment program.
