Spring Lecture Series - Clearing the Field: Battlefield Healing in Canada's Musket Years
Join us on Tuesday April 2 at 1:00 PM for Clearing the Field: Battlefield healing in Canada’s musket years 1754-1861 with Mat Johnson
Clearing the Field will examine how tactics, weaponry, and 18th and 19th Century social views influenced casualty clearing and military medical care. Though many of the techniques used by period military surgeons seem crude by modern standards, the truth is they did their best in the unforgiving environment on the North American battlefield, and countless lives were saved because of their efforts.
Mat Johnson is a passionate, driven and accomplished historian with over 18 years professional experience working with museums, world-class authors, historians, heritage contractors, and historical associations. In addition, Mat has many years experience presenting a wide range of historical topics to the public through multi-media and live lectures. Mat is the owner, editor and head writer of Marathon of History Magazine, a widely circulated historical magazine in Southwestern Ontario.
This presentation is part of the 2024 Spring Lecture Series taking place in the Grey Roots Theatre on Tuesdays March 19, 26, and April 2 (series starts the Tuesday after March Break). Talks begin at 1:00 PM. Complimentary refreshments following. Lectures are free with regular admission. Members free as always. Check out the advantages of Grey Roots Membership.
