The main museum building, including the Archives, is fully accessible to those using scooters, wheelchairs, or assistive walking devices. Moreston Heritage Village is partially accessible.

  1. Four wheelchair accessible parking spaces are located approximately 50 metres from the main museum entrance.
     
  2. Automated door entry systems are present at both the main museum entrance and the entrance to Moreston Heritage Village.
     
  3. Exhibit areas allow for free movement of wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices.
     
  4. Three electric mobility scooters and one manual wheelchair are available for visitors at no charge.
     
  5. Accessible washrooms are available in the main museum building as well as the 1920s Schoolhouse in Moreston Heritage Village.
     
  6. The Thomas Wheildon Theatre features designated accessible seating areas to accommodate mobility devices.
     
  7. Exterior lighting is present at all entrances and exits of the main museum building.
     

The following buildings in Moreston Heritage Village are accessible either by ramp or ground level access:

Historical Interpreters can engage visitors outside buildings when entry is not possible. Artefact information binders and portable artefacts are available.

  1. Magnifying glasses are available use by visitors.
     
  2. When leading a tour, opportunities will be offered to handle objects where safety and the condition of the artefacts allow.

  3. Strips of paint in high contrast colours have been added to the edges of stairs or platforms in the Log House and School House.

  4. The Grey County Gallery includes several auditory experiences featuring interpretation of artefacts and oral histories. There are five rotary phone listening stations and three cascading sound speakers with seating areas.

  5. Written information is presented in large font sizes.

  6. We offer an audio tour of Moreston Heritage Village featuring historical insights, stories, and details linked to buildings and locations throughout the site.
  1. Staff are trained to assist by speaking clearly and facing the visitor to assist those who may be lip-reading.

  2. Information on the museum’s exhibits is provided in print form.
     
  3. Assistive listening devices are available for use in the Thomas Wheildon Theatre.
