This is a TWO hour program and can be combined with a self-guided experience or The Fossil Frontier program to create a full-day experience.

How come pioneers always had simple machines? Because they knew better than to settle without them!

Explore Moreston Heritage Village through the lens of simple machines! Discover how settlers made their lives easier by working smarter, not harder. Students will get hands-on experience with a variety of simple machines to complete tasks—whether as a team or on their own. This program highlights the ingenuity of 1850s Grey County, while also featuring a few machines from the 1880s and 1920s. Please note that some activities are weather dependent, so be ready for all conditions!

The cost for the program is $5.00 +HST per student. 

 

Subsidized Rates

We extend our heartfelt thanks to West Wawanosh Mutual Insurance for their generous support in promoting equitable access to Grey Roots for local learners. Thanks to their contribution, schools located more than 40 km from Grey Roots, situated in rural communities, or focused on First Nations learners are now eligible for a subsidized programming rate. Schools may receive between $50 and $150 in savings to help offset bussing costs.
