Going Out in Style - on now!
Our popular original exhibit Going Out in Style will return for a limited engagement this October, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into funerary customs across diverse cultures, with a specific focus on the Victorian era.
Through over 130 artefacts from the Grey Roots collection, informative text panels, and archival images, Going Out in Style offers a thought provoking, inclusive, and engaging examination of the way in which the living treat the departed. From Egyptian mummification and Viking funerals, to mortuary photography and the haute couture of mourning dress fashions, Going Out in Style explores how death rituals have reflected societal values, beliefs, and traditions throughout history.

- Beautifully restored 1930s horse-drawn hearse
- Headstone of Nahneebahweequay (Catherine B. Sutton)
- Gorgeous collection of mourning capes and shawls
- 19th century amputation saw and accompanying kit
- Día de los Muertos ofrenda (Day of the Dead offering)
- The allegedly cursed sculpture of Dr. Edward Horsey (1867-1902)

Looking for Space?
We rent our multi-media theatre and Delton Becker Room to the community. The 75 seat theatre is an excellent venue to host films, lectures and other events.
