We Lend a Hand: The Forgotten Story of the Ontario Farmerettes
Screening at Grey Roots – October 21, 2025 | 1:00 PM & 7:00 PM
Doors open 30 minutes before each screening
Join us for a powerful 49-minute documentary that uncovers the little-known story of the Ontario Farmerettes—40,000 teenage girls who volunteered between 1941 and 1952 to keep Canada’s farms running during wartime. With no farming experience, these young women faced grueling conditions to produce vital food supplies for soldiers, civilians, and prisoners of war.
Told through moving reenactments and rare archival footage, We Lend a Hand brings their voices to life—many now in their 90s—reminding us that service takes many forms.
