Photographs have the rare ability to make time visible - turning ordinary moments into enduring records of who we’ve been.
Living Histories: Grey County brings together powerful images of Grey County, revealing lives lived on farms and in growing towns, through changing seasons and across time. As Guest Curator Richard Thomas notes, “photographs are more than images - they are proof that someone was here.”
This exhibit features images drawn from community submissions, local archives, museums, and historical societies paired with contemporary photos by John Fearnall. Objects from the Grey Roots collection - tools, products, and artefacts - add a tangible layer to the stories “within the frame,” bridging past and present in meaningful ways.
Living Histories: Grey County grew out of an Owen Sound-focused version of Living Histories, originally presented by the Tom Thomson Art Gallery in 2023.
